Heritage Medical Association

About

The Heritage Medical Association is an invitation-only private membership association for health professionals of European ancestry to include physicians, dentists, nurses, scientists, technologists, and allied health professionals, among others. We connect like-minded individuals, promote the art and science of medicine and health in our ancestral communities, and organize events to celebrate our rich cultural heritage in the medical vocation.

Vision

Our vision is to connect health professionals of European ancestry and empower them to improve the well-being of their communities and to serve as stewards of their unique cultural and intellectual heritage in medicine.

Mission

We seek to promote the art and science of medicine and the improvement of health within communities of European ancestry and to preserve the cultural traditions that have shaped Western medicine.

Aims

1. To foster the association of and to advocate for health professionals of common heritage.
2. To encourage traditional European values and ethics in medicine.
3. To stimulate research, education, and innovation aligned with these values.
4. To teach the art of healing to one another and to our posterity.
5. To strive for uncompromising excellence, integrity, and honor in the pursuit of all of the above.

Oath

I swear by all the gods and goddesses, taking them as my witnesses, that I will faithfully carry out, according to my ability and judgment, this oath and this covenant.

I will hold my teacher in medicine equal to my own parents; I will share my substance with him, will share his troubles as my own, and regard his offspring as my brothers, and will teach them this art, if they wish to learn it, without fee or covenant.

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment, and never do harm to anyone. To please no one will I prescribe a deadly drug, nor give advice which may cause his death; nor will I give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion. With purity and holiness I will pass my life and practice my art.

Whatever houses I may visit, I will enter them for the benefit of the sick, refraining from all intentional wrong-doing and corruption, especially from the seduction of males or females, of freemen and slaves alike.

Whatever I see or hear in the course of treatment, I will not divulge, holding such things to be holy secrets. If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy life and the practice of my art, bringing me honor among men for all time; but should I break it, may the opposite be my lot.
